| CVE-2024-53063(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: dvbdev: prevent the risk of out of memory access The dvbdev contains a static variable used to store dvb minors. The behavior of it depends if CONFIG_DVB_DYNAMIC_MINORS is set or not. When not set, dvb_register_device() won't check for boundaries, as it will rely that a previous call to dvb_register_adapter() would already be enforcing it. On a similar way, dvb_device_open() uses the assumption that the register functions already did the needed checks. This can be fragile if some device ends using different calls. This also generate warnings on static check analysers like Coverity. So, add explicit guards to prevent potential risk of OOM issues. | Nov 19, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-53061(opens NVD record) | High | 7.3 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: s5p-jpeg: prevent buffer overflows The current logic allows word to be less than 2. If this happens, there will be buffer overflows, as reported by smatch. Add extra checks to prevent it. While here, remove an unused word = 0 assignment. | Nov 19, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-53059(opens NVD record) | High | 7.1 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: Fix response handling in iwl_mvm_send_recovery_cmd() 1. The size of the response packet is not validated. 2. The response buffer is not freed. Resolve these issues by switching to iwl_mvm_send_cmd_status(), which handles both size validation and frees the buffer. | Nov 19, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-53058(opens NVD record) | Critical | 9.4 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: stmmac: TSO: Fix unbalanced DMA map/unmap for non-paged SKB data In case the non-paged data of a SKB carries protocol header and protocol payload to be transmitted on a certain platform that the DMA AXI address width is configured to 40-bit/48-bit, or the size of the non-paged data is bigger than TSO_MAX_BUFF_SIZE on a certain platform that the DMA AXI address width is configured to 32-bit, then this SKB requires at least two DMA transmit descriptors to serve it. For example, three descriptors are allocated to split one DMA buffer mapped from one piece of non-paged data: dma_desc[N + 0], dma_desc[N + 1], dma_desc[N + 2]. Then three elements of tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[] will be allocated to hold extra information to be reused in stmmac_tx_clean(): tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0], tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 1], tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 2]. Now we focus on tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf, which is the DMA buffer address returned by DMA mapping call. stmmac_tx_clean() will try to unmap the DMA buffer _ONLY_IF_ tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf is a valid buffer address. The expected behavior that saves DMA buffer address of this non-paged data to tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf is: tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0].buf = NULL; tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 1].buf = NULL; tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 2].buf = dma_map_single(); Unfortunately, the current code misbehaves like this: tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0].buf = dma_map_single(); tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 1].buf = NULL; tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 2].buf = NULL; On the stmmac_tx_clean() side, when dma_desc[N + 0] is closed by the DMA engine, tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0].buf is a valid buffer address obviously, then the DMA buffer will be unmapped immediately. There may be a rare case that the DMA engine does not finish the pending dma_desc[N + 1], dma_desc[N + 2] yet. Now things will go horribly wrong, DMA is going to access a unmapped/unreferenced memory region, corrupted data will be transmited or iommu fault will be triggered :( In contrast, the for-loop that maps SKB fragments behaves perfectly as expected, and that is how the driver should do for both non-paged data and paged frags actually. This patch corrects DMA map/unmap sequences by fixing the array index for tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf when assigning DMA buffer address. Tested and verified on DWXGMAC CORE 3.20a | Nov 19, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-53044(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: sch_api: fix xa_insert() error path in tcf_block_get_ext() This command: $ tc qdisc replace dev eth0 ingress_block 1 egress_block 1 clsact Error: block dev insert failed: -EBUSY. fails because user space requests the same block index to be set for both ingress and egress. [ side note, I don't think it even failed prior to commit 913b47d3424e ("net/sched: Introduce tc block netdev tracking infra"), because this is a command from an old set of notes of mine which used to work, but alas, I did not scientifically bisect this ] The problem is not that it fails, but rather, that the second time around, it fails differently (and irrecoverably): $ tc qdisc replace dev eth0 ingress_block 1 egress_block 1 clsact Error: dsa_core: Flow block cb is busy. [ another note: the extack is added by me for illustration purposes. the context of the problem is that clsact_init() obtains the same &q->ingress_block pointer as &q->egress_block, and since we call tcf_block_get_ext() on both of them, "dev" will be added to the block->ports xarray twice, thus failing the operation: once through the ingress block pointer, and once again through the egress block pointer. the problem itself is that when xa_insert() fails, we have emitted a FLOW_BLOCK_BIND command through ndo_setup_tc(), but the offload never sees a corresponding FLOW_BLOCK_UNBIND. ] Even correcting the bad user input, we still cannot recover: $ tc qdisc replace dev swp3 ingress_block 1 egress_block 2 clsact Error: dsa_core: Flow block cb is busy. Basically the only way to recover is to reboot the system, or unbind and rebind the net device driver. To fix the bug, we need to fill the correct error teardown path which was missed during code movement, and call tcf_block_offload_unbind() when xa_insert() fails. [ last note, fundamentally I blame the label naming convention in tcf_block_get_ext() for the bug. The labels should be named after what they do, not after the error path that jumps to them. This way, it is obviously wrong that two labels pointing to the same code mean something is wrong, and checking the code correctness at the goto site is also easier ] | Nov 19, 2024 |

It can be reproduced by following these steps(more details [1]): 1. Obtain more than 32 inputs that have similar hashes, which ends with the pattern '0xxxxxxxe6'. 2. Reboot and add the keys obtained in step 1. The reproducer demonstrates how this issue happened: 1. In the search_nested_keyrings function, when it iterates through the slots in a node(below tag ascend_to_node), if the slot pointer is meta and node->back_pointer != NULL(it means a root), it will proceed to descend_to_node. However, there is an exception. If node is the root, and one of the slots points to a shortcut, it will be treated as a keyring. 2. Whether the ptr is keyring decided by keyring_ptr_is_keyring function. However, KEYRING_PTR_SUBTYPE is 0x2UL, the same as ASSOC_ARRAY_PTR_SUBTYPE_MASK. 3. When 32 keys with the similar hashes are added to the tree, the ROOT has keys with hashes that are not similar (e.g. slot 0) and it splits NODE A without using a shortcut. When NODE A is filled with keys that all hashes are xxe6, the keys are similar, NODE A will split with a shortcut. Finally, it forms the tree as shown below, where slot 6 points to a shortcut. NODE A +------>+---+ ROOT | | 0 | xxe6 +---+ | +---+ xxxx | 0 | shortcut : : xxe6 +---+ | +---+ xxe6 : : | | | xxe6 +---+ | +---+ | 6 |---+ : : xxe6 +---+ +---+ xxe6 : : | f | xxe6 +---+ +---+ xxe6 | f | +---+ 4. As mentioned above, If a slot(slot 6) of the root points to a shortcut, it may be mistakenly transferred to a key*, leading to a read out-of-bounds read. To fix this issue, one should jump to descend_to_node if the ptr is a shortcut, regardless of whether the node is root or not. | CVE-2024-50275(opens NVD record) | High | 7.3 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64/sve: Discard stale CPU state when handling SVE traps The logic for handling SVE traps manipulates saved FPSIMD/SVE state incorrectly, and a race with preemption can result in a task having TIF_SVE set and TIF_FOREIGN_FPSTATE clear even though the live CPU state is stale (e.g. with SVE traps enabled). This has been observed to result in warnings from do_sve_acc() where SVE traps are not expected while TIF_SVE is set: | if (test_and_set_thread_flag(TIF_SVE)) | WARN_ON(1); /* SVE access shouldn't have trapped */ Warnings of this form have been reported intermittently, e.g. https://lore.kernel.org/linux-arm-kernel/CA+G9fYtEGe_DhY2Ms7+L7NKsLYUomGsgqpdBj+QwDLeSg=JhGg@mail.gmail.com/ https://lore.kernel.org/linux-arm-kernel/000000000000511e9a060ce5a45c@google.com/ The race can occur when the SVE trap handler is preempted before and after manipulating the saved FPSIMD/SVE state, starting and ending on the same CPU, e.g. | void do_sve_acc(unsigned long esr, struct pt_regs *regs) | { | // Trap on CPU 0 with TIF_SVE clear, SVE traps enabled | // task->fpsimd_cpu is 0. | // per_cpu_ptr(&fpsimd_last_state, 0) is task. | | ... | | // Preempted; migrated from CPU 0 to CPU 1. | // TIF_FOREIGN_FPSTATE is set. | | get_cpu_fpsimd_context(); | | if (test_and_set_thread_flag(TIF_SVE)) | WARN_ON(1); /* SVE access shouldn't have trapped */ | | sve_init_regs() { | if (!test_thread_flag(TIF_FOREIGN_FPSTATE)) { | ... | } else { | fpsimd_to_sve(current); | current->thread.fp_type = FP_STATE_SVE; | } | } | | put_cpu_fpsimd_context(); | | // Preempted; migrated from CPU 1 to CPU 0. | // task->fpsimd_cpu is still 0 | // If per_cpu_ptr(&fpsimd_last_state, 0) is still task then: | // - Stale HW state is reused (with SVE traps enabled) | // - TIF_FOREIGN_FPSTATE is cleared | // - A return to userspace skips HW state restore | } Fix the case where the state is not live and TIF_FOREIGN_FPSTATE is set by calling fpsimd_flush_task_state() to detach from the saved CPU state. This ensures that a subsequent context switch will not reuse the stale CPU state, and will instead set TIF_FOREIGN_FPSTATE, forcing the new state to be reloaded from memory prior to a return to userspace. | Nov 19, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-50273(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: reinitialize delayed ref list after deleting it from the list At insert_delayed_ref() if we need to update the action of an existing ref to BTRFS_DROP_DELAYED_REF, we delete the ref from its ref head's ref_add_list using list_del(), which leaves the ref's add_list member not reinitialized, as list_del() sets the next and prev members of the list to LIST_POISON1 and LIST_POISON2, respectively. If later we end up calling drop_delayed_ref() against the ref, which can happen during merging or when destroying delayed refs due to a transaction abort, we can trigger a crash since at drop_delayed_ref() we call list_empty() against the ref's add_list, which returns false since the list was not reinitialized after the list_del() and as a consequence we call list_del() again at drop_delayed_ref(). This results in an invalid list access since the next and prev members are set to poison pointers, resulting in a splat if CONFIG_LIST_HARDENED and CONFIG_DEBUG_LIST are set or invalid poison pointer dereferences otherwise. So fix this by deleting from the list with list_del_init() instead. | Nov 19, 2024 |
