| CVE-2024-47723(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: jfs: fix out-of-bounds in dbNextAG() and diAlloc() In dbNextAG() , there is no check for the case where bmp->db_numag is greater or same than MAXAG due to a polluted image, which causes an out-of-bounds. Therefore, a bounds check should be added in dbMount(). And in dbNextAG(), a check for the case where agpref is greater than bmp->db_numag should be added, so an out-of-bounds exception should be prevented. Additionally, a check for the case where agno is greater or same than MAXAG should be added in diAlloc() to prevent out-of-bounds. | Oct 21, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-47721(opens NVD record) | High | 8.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: rtw89: remove unused C2H event ID RTW89_MAC_C2H_FUNC_READ_WOW_CAM to prevent out-of-bounds reading The handler of firmware C2H event RTW89_MAC_C2H_FUNC_READ_WOW_CAM isn't implemented, but driver expects number of handlers is NUM_OF_RTW89_MAC_C2H_FUNC_WOW causing out-of-bounds access. | CVE-2024-47714(opens NVD record) | High | 7.6 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mt76: mt7996: use hweight16 to get correct tx antenna The chainmask is u16 so using hweight8 cannot get correct tx_ant. Without this patch, the tx_ant of band 2 would be -1 and lead to the following issue: BUG: KASAN: stack-out-of-bounds in mt7996_mcu_add_sta+0x12e0/0x16e0 [mt7996e] | Oct 21, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-47712(opens NVD record) | High | 8.3 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: wilc1000: fix potential RCU dereference issue in wilc_parse_join_bss_param In the `wilc_parse_join_bss_param` function, the TSF field of the `ies` structure is accessed after the RCU read-side critical section is unlocked. According to RCU usage rules, this is illegal. Reusing this pointer can lead to unpredictable behavior, including accessing memory that has been updated or causing use-after-free issues. This possible bug was identified using a static analysis tool developed by myself, specifically designed to detect RCU-related issues. To address this, the TSF value is now stored in a local variable `ies_tsf` before the RCU lock is released. The `param->tsf_lo` field is then assigned using this local variable, ensuring that the TSF value is safely accessed. | Oct 21, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-47711(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_unix: Don't return OOB skb in manage_oob(). syzbot reported use-after-free in unix_stream_recv_urg(). [0] The scenario is 1. send(MSG_OOB) 2. recv(MSG_OOB) -> The consumed OOB remains in recv queue 3. send(MSG_OOB) 4. recv() -> manage_oob() returns the next skb of the consumed OOB -> This is also OOB, but unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb is not cleared 5. recv(MSG_OOB) -> unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb is used but already freed The recent commit 8594d9b85c07 ("af_unix: Don't call skb_get() for OOB skb.") uncovered the issue. If the OOB skb is consumed and the next skb is peeked in manage_oob(), we still need to check if the skb is OOB. Let's do so by falling back to the following checks in manage_oob() and add the test case in selftest. Note that we need to add a similar check for SIOCATMARK. | CVE-2024-47703(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf, lsm: Add check for BPF LSM return value A bpf prog returning a positive number attached to file_alloc_security hook makes kernel panic. This happens because file system can not filter out the positive number returned by the LSM prog using IS_ERR, and misinterprets this positive number as a file pointer. Given that hook file_alloc_security never returned positive number before the introduction of BPF LSM, and other BPF LSM hooks may encounter similar issues, this patch adds LSM return value check in verifier, to ensure no unexpected value is returned. | Oct 21, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-47702(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fail verification for sign-extension of packet data/data_end/data_meta syzbot reported a kernel crash due to commit 1f1e864b6555 ("bpf: Handle sign-extenstin ctx member accesses"). The reason is due to sign-extension of 32-bit load for packet data/data_end/data_meta uapi field. The original code looks like: r2 = *(s32 *)(r1 + 76) /* load __sk_buff->data */ r3 = *(u32 *)(r1 + 80) /* load __sk_buff->data_end */ r0 = r2 r0 += 8 if r3 > r0 goto +1 ... Note that __sk_buff->data load has 32-bit sign extension. After verification and convert_ctx_accesses(), the final asm code looks like: r2 = *(u64 *)(r1 +208) r2 = (s32)r2 r3 = *(u64 *)(r1 +80) r0 = r2 r0 += 8 if r3 > r0 goto pc+1 ... Note that 'r2 = (s32)r2' may make the kernel __sk_buff->data address invalid which may cause runtime failure. Currently, in C code, typically we have void *data = (void *)(long)skb->data; void *data_end = (void *)(long)skb->data_end; ... and it will generate r2 = *(u64 *)(r1 +208) r3 = *(u64 *)(r1 +80) r0 = r2 r0 += 8 if r3 > r0 goto pc+1 If we allow sign-extension, void *data = (void *)(long)(int)skb->data; void *data_end = (void *)(long)skb->data_end; ... the generated code looks like r2 = *(u64 *)(r1 +208) r2 <<= 32 r2 s>>= 32 r3 = *(u64 *)(r1 +80) r0 = r2 r0 += 8 if r3 > r0 goto pc+1 and this will cause verification failure since "r2 <<= 32" is not allowed as "r2" is a packet pointer. To fix this issue for case r2 = *(s32 *)(r1 + 76) /* load __sk_buff->data */ this patch added additional checking in is_valid_access() callback function for packet data/data_end/data_meta access. If those accesses are with sign-extenstion, the verification will fail. [1] https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/000000000000c90eee061d236d37@google.com/ | Oct 21, 2024 |

| CVE-2024-47696(opens NVD record) | High | 7.5 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/iwcm: Fix WARNING:at_kernel/workqueue.c:#check_flush_dependency In the commit aee2424246f9 ("RDMA/iwcm: Fix a use-after-free related to destroying CM IDs"), the function flush_workqueue is invoked to flush the work queue iwcm_wq. But at that time, the work queue iwcm_wq was created via the function alloc_ordered_workqueue without the flag WQ_MEM_RECLAIM. Because the current process is trying to flush the whole iwcm_wq, if iwcm_wq doesn't have the flag WQ_MEM_RECLAIM, verify that the current process is not reclaiming memory or running on a workqueue which doesn't have the flag WQ_MEM_RECLAIM as that can break forward-progress guarantee leading to a deadlock. | CVE-2024-47695(opens NVD record) | Critical | 9.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/rtrs-clt: Reset cid to con_num - 1 to stay in bounds In the function init_conns(), after the create_con() and create_cm() for loop if something fails. In the cleanup for loop after the destroy tag, we access out of bound memory because cid is set to clt_path->s.con_num. This commits resets the cid to clt_path->s.con_num - 1, to stay in bounds in the cleanup loop later. | Oct 21, 2024 |

| CVE-2024-47679(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfs: fix race between evice_inodes() and find_inode()&iput() Hi, all Recently I noticed a bug[1] in btrfs, after digged it into and I believe it'a race in vfs. Let's assume there's a inode (ie ino 261) with i_count 1 is called by iput(), and there's a concurrent thread calling generic_shutdown_super(). cpu0: cpu1: iput() // i_count is 1 ->spin_lock(inode) ->dec i_count to 0 ->iput_final() generic_shutdown_super() ->__inode_add_lru() ->evict_inodes() // cause some reason[2] ->if (atomic_read(inode->i_count)) continue; // return before // inode 261 passed the above check // list_lru_add_obj() // and then schedule out ->spin_unlock() // note here: the inode 261 // was still at sb list and hash list, // and I_FREEING|I_WILL_FREE was not been set btrfs_iget() // after some function calls ->find_inode() // found the above inode 261 ->spin_lock(inode) // check I_FREEING|I_WILL_FREE // and passed ->__iget() ->spin_unlock(inode) // schedule back ->spin_lock(inode) // check (I_NEW|I_FREEING|I_WILL_FREE) flags, // passed and set I_FREEING iput() ->spin_unlock(inode) ->spin_lock(inode) ->evict() // dec i_count to 0 ->iput_final() ->spin_unlock() ->evict() Now, we have two threads simultaneously evicting the same inode, which may trigger the BUG(inode->i_state & I_CLEAR) statement both within clear_inode() and iput(). To fix the bug, recheck the inode->i_count after holding i_lock. Because in the most scenarios, the first check is valid, and the overhead of spin_lock() can be reduced. If there is any misunderstanding, please let me know, thanks. [1]: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-btrfs/000000000000eabe1d0619c48986@google.com/ [2]: The reason might be 1. | CVE-2024-47678(opens NVD record) | Critical | 9.4 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: icmp: change the order of rate limits ICMP messages are ratelimited : After the blamed commits, the two rate limiters are applied in this order: 1) host wide ratelimit (icmp_global_allow()) 2) Per destination ratelimit (inetpeer based) In order to avoid side-channels attacks, we need to apply the per destination check first. This patch makes the following change : 1) icmp_global_allow() checks if the host wide limit is reached. But credits are not yet consumed. This is deferred to 3) 2) The per destination limit is checked/updated. This might add a new node in inetpeer tree. 3) icmp_global_consume() consumes tokens if prior operations succeeded. This means that host wide ratelimit is still effective in keeping inetpeer tree small even under DDOS. As a bonus, I removed icmp_global.lock as the fast path can use a lock-free operation. | Oct 21, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-47676(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/hugetlb.c: fix UAF of vma in hugetlb fault pathway Syzbot reports a UAF in hugetlb_fault(). This happens because vmf_anon_prepare() could drop the per-VMA lock and allow the current VMA to be freed before hugetlb_vma_unlock_read() is called. We can fix this by using a modified version of vmf_anon_prepare() that doesn't release the VMA lock on failure, and then release it ourselves after hugetlb_vma_unlock_read(). | Oct 21, 2024 |
