| CVE-2024-36914(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Skip on writeback when it's not applicable [WHY] dynamic memory safety error detector (KASAN) catches and generates error messages "BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds" as writeback connector does not support certain features which are not initialized. [HOW] Skip them when connector type is DRM_MODE_CONNECTOR_WRITEBACK. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36913(opens NVD record) | Critical | 9.3 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Drivers: hv: vmbus: Leak pages if set_memory_encrypted() fails In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. VMBus code could free decrypted pages if set_memory_encrypted()/decrypted() fails. Leak the pages if this happens. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36912(opens NVD record) | Critical | 9.6 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Drivers: hv: vmbus: Track decrypted status in vmbus_gpadl In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. In order to make sure callers of vmbus_establish_gpadl() and vmbus_teardown_gpadl() don't return decrypted/shared pages to allocators, add a field in struct vmbus_gpadl to keep track of the decryption status of the buffers. This will allow the callers to know if they should free or leak the pages. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36911(opens NVD record) | Critical | 9.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hv_netvsc: Don't free decrypted memory In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. The netvsc driver could free decrypted/shared pages if set_memory_decrypted() fails. Check the decrypted field in the gpadl to decide whether to free the memory. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36910(opens NVD record) | High | 8.4 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: uio_hv_generic: Don't free decrypted memory In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. The VMBus device UIO driver could free decrypted/shared pages if set_memory_decrypted() fails. Check the decrypted field in the gpadl to decide whether to free the memory. | May 30, 2024 |

Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. The VMBus ring buffer code could free decrypted/shared pages if set_memory_decrypted() fails. Check the decrypted field in the struct vmbus_gpadl for the ring buffers to decide whether to free the memory. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36904(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: Use refcount_inc_not_zero() in tcp_twsk_unique(). Anderson Nascimento reported a use-after-free splat in tcp_twsk_unique() with nice analysis. Since commit ec94c2696f0b ("tcp/dccp: avoid one atomic operation for timewait hashdance"), inet_twsk_hashdance() sets TIME-WAIT socket's sk_refcnt after putting it into ehash and releasing the bucket lock. Thus, there is a small race window where other threads could try to reuse the port during connect() and call sock_hold() in tcp_twsk_unique() for the TIME-WAIT socket with zero refcnt. If that happens, the refcnt taken by tcp_twsk_unique() is overwritten and sock_put() will cause underflow, triggering a real use-after-free somewhere else. To avoid the use-after-free, we need to use refcount_inc_not_zero() in tcp_twsk_unique() and give up on reusing the port if it returns false. [0]: refcount_t: addition on 0; use-after-free. | CVE-2024-36903(opens NVD record) | Medium | 5.5 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: Fix potential uninit-value access in __ip6_make_skb() As it was done in commit fc1092f51567 ("ipv4: Fix uninit-value access in __ip_make_skb()") for IPv4, check FLOWI_FLAG_KNOWN_NH on fl6->flowi6_flags instead of testing HDRINCL on the socket to avoid a race condition which causes uninit-value access. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36898(opens NVD record) | High | 7.1 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpiolib: cdev: fix uninitialised kfifo If a line is requested with debounce, and that results in debouncing in software, and the line is subsequently reconfigured to enable edge detection then the allocation of the kfifo to contain edge events is overlooked. This results in events being written to and read from an uninitialised kfifo. Read events are returned to userspace. Initialise the kfifo in the case where the software debounce is already active. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36894(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: f_fs: Fix race between aio_cancel() and AIO request complete FFS based applications can utilize the aio_cancel() callback to dequeue pending USB requests submitted to the UDC. There is a scenario where the FFS application issues an AIO cancel call, while the UDC is handling a soft disconnect. For a DWC3 based implementation, the callstack looks like the following: DWC3 Gadget FFS Application dwc3_gadget_soft_disconnect() ... --> dwc3_stop_active_transfers() --> dwc3_gadget_giveback(-ESHUTDOWN) --> ffs_epfile_async_io_complete() ffs_aio_cancel() --> usb_ep_free_request() --> usb_ep_dequeue() There is currently no locking implemented between the AIO completion handler and AIO cancel, so the issue occurs if the completion routine is running in parallel to an AIO cancel call coming from the FFS application. As the completion call frees the USB request (io_data->req) the FFS application is also referencing it for the usb_ep_dequeue() call. This can lead to accessing a stale/hanging pointer. commit b566d38857fc ("usb: gadget: f_fs: use io_data->status consistently") relocated the usb_ep_free_request() into ffs_epfile_async_io_complete(). However, in order to properly implement locking to mitigate this issue, the spinlock can't be added to ffs_epfile_async_io_complete(), as usb_ep_dequeue() (if successfully dequeuing a USB request) will call the function driver's completion handler in the same context. Hence, leading into a deadlock. Fix this issue by moving the usb_ep_free_request() back to ffs_user_copy_worker(), and ensuring that it explicitly sets io_data->req to NULL after freeing it within the ffs->eps_lock. This resolves the race condition above, as the ffs_aio_cancel() routine will not continue attempting to dequeue a request that has already been freed, or the ffs_user_copy_work() not freeing the USB request until the AIO cancel is done referencing it. This fix depends on commit b566d38857fc ("usb: gadget: f_fs: use io_data->status consistently") | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36890(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/slab: make __free(kfree) accept error pointers Currently, if an automatically freed allocation is an error pointer that will lead to a crash. An example of this is in wm831x_gpio_dbg_show(). 171 char *label __free(kfree) = gpiochip_dup_line_label(chip, i); 172 if (IS_ERR(label)) { 173 dev_err(wm831x->dev, "Failed to duplicate label\n"); 174 continue; 175 } The auto clean up function should check for error pointers as well, otherwise we're going to keep hitting issues like this. | May 30, 2024 |

It reads max_gen_ptrs, which is changed under pernet_ops_rwsem. It is read twice, first to allocate an array, then to set s.len, which is later used to limit the bounds of the array access. It is possible that the array is allocated and another thread is registering a new pernet ops, increments max_gen_ptrs, which is then used to set s.len with a larger than allocated length for the variable array. Fix it by reading max_gen_ptrs only once in net_alloc_generic. If max_gen_ptrs is later incremented, it will be caught in net_assign_generic. | May 30, 2024 |

| CVE-2024-36027(opens NVD record) | High | 7.1 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: zoned: do not flag ZEROOUT on non-dirty extent buffer Btrfs clears the content of an extent buffer marked as EXTENT_BUFFER_ZONED_ZEROOUT before the bio submission. This mechanism is introduced to prevent a write hole of an extent buffer, which is once allocated, marked dirty, but turns out unnecessary and cleaned up within one transaction operation. Currently, btrfs_clear_buffer_dirty() marks the extent buffer as EXTENT_BUFFER_ZONED_ZEROOUT, and skips the entry function. If this call happens while the buffer is under IO (with the WRITEBACK flag set, without the DIRTY flag), we can add the ZEROOUT flag and clear the buffer's content just before a bio submission. As a result: 1) it can lead to adding faulty delayed reference item which leads to a FS corrupted (EUCLEAN) error, and 2) it writes out cleared tree node on disk The former issue is previously discussed in [1]. The corruption happens when it runs a delayed reference update. So, on-disk data is safe. [1] https://lore.kernel.org/linux-btrfs/3f4f2a0ff1a6c818050434288925bdcf3cd719e5.1709124777.git.naohiro.aota@wdc.com/ The latter one can reach on-disk data. But, as that node is already processed by btrfs_clear_buffer_dirty(), that will be invalidated in the next transaction commit anyway. So, the chance of hitting the corruption is relatively small. Anyway, we should skip flagging ZEROOUT on a non-DIRTY extent buffer, to keep the content under IO intact. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36020(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i40e: fix vf may be used uninitialized in this function warning To fix the regression introduced by commit 52424f974bc5, which causes servers hang in very hard to reproduce conditions with resets races. Using two sources for the information is the root cause. In this function before the fix bumping v didn't mean bumping vf pointer. But the code used this variables interchangeably, so stale vf could point to different/not intended vf. Remove redundant "v" variable and iterate via single VF pointer across whole function instead to guarantee VF pointer validity. | May 30, 2024 |
| CVE-2024-36019(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: regmap: maple: Fix cache corruption in regcache_maple_drop() When keeping the upper end of a cache block entry, the entry[] array must be indexed by the offset from the base register of the block, i.e. max - mas.index. The code was indexing entry[] by only the register address, leading to an out-of-bounds access that copied some part of the kernel memory over the cache contents. This bug was not detected by the regmap KUnit test because it only tests with a block of registers starting at 0, so mas.index == 0. | May 30, 2024 |

| CVE-2024-36016(opens NVD record) | High | 7.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: n_gsm: fix possible out-of-bounds in gsm0_receive() Assuming the following: - side A configures the n_gsm in basic option mode - side B sends the header of a basic option mode frame with data length 1 - side A switches to advanced option mode - side B sends 2 data bytes which exceeds gsm->len Reason: gsm->len is not used in advanced option mode. - side A switches to basic option mode - side B keeps sending until gsm0_receive() writes past gsm->buf Reason: Neither gsm->state nor gsm->len have been reset after reconfiguration. Fix this by changing gsm->count to gsm->len comparison from equal to less than. Also add upper limit checks against the constant MAX_MRU in gsm0_receive() and gsm1_receive() to harden against memory corruption of gsm->len and gsm->mru. All other checks remain as we still need to limit the data according to the user configuration and actual payload size. | May 29, 2024 |

| CVE-2023-52881(opens NVD record) | Critical | 9.8 | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: do not accept ACK of bytes we never sent This patch is based on a detailed report and ideas from Yepeng Pan and Christian Rossow. ACK seq validation is currently following RFC 5961 5.2 guidelines: The ACK value is considered acceptable only if it is in the range of ((SND.UNA - MAX.SND.WND) <= SEG.ACK <= SND.NXT). All incoming segments whose ACK value doesn't satisfy the above condition MUST be discarded and an ACK sent back. It needs to be noted that RFC 793 on page 72 (fifth check) says: "If the ACK is a duplicate (SEG.ACK < SND.UNA), it can be ignored. If the ACK acknowledges something not yet sent (SEG.ACK > SND.NXT) then send an ACK, drop the segment, and return". The "ignored" above implies that the processing of the incoming data segment continues, which means the ACK value is treated as acceptable. This mitigation makes the ACK check more stringent since any ACK < SND.UNA wouldn't be accepted, instead only ACKs that are in the range ((SND.UNA - MAX.SND.WND) <= SEG.ACK <= SND.NXT) get through. This can be refined for new (and possibly spoofed) flows, by not accepting ACK for bytes that were never sent. This greatly improves TCP security at a little cost. I added a Fixes: tag to make sure this patch will reach stable trees, even if the 'blamed' patch was adhering to the RFC. tp->bytes_acked was added in linux-4.2 Following packetdrill test (courtesy of Yepeng Pan) shows the issue at hand: 0 socket(..., SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_TCP) = 3 +0 setsockopt(3, SOL_SOCKET, SO_REUSEADDR, [1], 4) = 0 +0 bind(3, ..., ...) = 0 +0 listen(3, 1024) = 0 // ---------------- Handshake ------------------- // // when window scale is set to 14 the window size can be extended to // 65535 * (2^14) = 1073725440.
